CloudBeam Performance

Performance Details

Performance Gains:
Information Availability is core to the pursuit of achieving a competitive advantage. Supplying content and data to users and systems in a timely manner results in powerful intelligence and analytics-based decision-making.

Attunity CloudBeam provides industry-leading, high-performance data transfer solutions, enabling organizations to assure information availability across cloud environments.

CloudBeam Performance Gains:

  • Accelerated data transfer, 10-12x over standard copy

CloudBeam Transfer Mechanism:

  • Concurrent sessions/transfers
  • Compression
  • Recoverability, guaranteed delivery
  • Secure delivery/encryption

With CloudBeam, customers may:

  • Look to virtually any Source Database, Operating System, or NAS
  • Replicate/Load files of any size
  • Optimize any given network connection

Planning:

When planning data transfers, one should consider the following primary variables:

  • Volume of data
  • Bandwidth commonly available (customer side)
  • Frequency of data transfer tasks (near real-time, hourly, daily, on-demand, etc.)

Other common variables include:

  • Hardware (source side)
  • Competing traffic
  • Dataset
  • And many others

Estimation – Hours Needed to Transfer ‘n’ Terabytes (TB) of Data from On-Prem Server to Amazon S3:
This table is published for the purpose of guidance and planning and assumes ‘best case’ in the way of sufficient customer-side bandwidth, hardware, dataset, etc. Given the range of variables, Attunity does not warrant this information, nor guarantee outcomes.

In the context of Amazon Redshift, this table excludes considerations for data extraction on source and copy commands from the S3 staging bucket to Amazon Redshift.

Estimation – Hours Needed to Transfer 1 Terabyte (TB) of Data from On-Prem Server to Amazon S3 (limited by lesser Customer-Side Bandwidth or lesser chosen SLA):

This table is published for the purpose of guidance and planning and assumes ‘best case’ in the way of sufficient customer-side bandwidth, hardware, dataset, etc. Given the range of variables, Attunity does not warrant this information, nor guarantee outcomes.

In the context of Amazon Redshift, this table excludes considerations for data extraction on source and copy commands from the S3 staging bucket to Amazon Redshift.

Attunity CloudBeam for Amazon Redshift (Express & Premium) – Hourly

Licensing:

  • Available by the Hour, pricing details are available within the AWS Marketplace (Express or Premium)

  • Billing is specific to the Hourly use of the Attunity AMI/EC2 Instance. There are no further billing considerations related to the source environments

Restrictions:

  • Attunity CloudBeam for Amazon Redshift (Express) – Hourly supports ‘Batch Data Loading’ only. Customers which require near real-time, incremental Change Data Capture (CDC) should use ‘Attunity CloudBeam for Amazon Redshift (Premium) – Hourly’ or BYOL.
  • Each Attunity AMI supports connectivity from one unique ‘Attunity Replicate’ server in the Source environment. Should a customer require support for more than one ‘Attunity Replicate’ server, the customer shall spin up a second (or ‘Nth’) Attunity AMI for each additional ‘Attunity Replicate’ server in the Source environments.
  • An Attunity AMI can support tasks looking to multiple source databases, however this is limited to non-concurrent replication. Should a customer require to replicate tasks from multiple source databases in a concurrent manner, the customer must spin up a second (or 'Nth') Attunity AMI; one Attunity AMI for each unique source running concurrently.
  • Attunity does not enforce restrictions regarding volumes of data. One may replicate large volumes of data without billing restrictions.

Client:

  • Attunity CloudBeam for Amazon Redshift requires that a client ('Attunity Replicate') be installed on a Windows server in the source environment (same local network as the source databases).
  • Upon activating the Attunity AMI / EC2 instance, the end-customer will receive a 'Welcome Email' that includes a download link for the 'Attunity Replicate' client.

Support Options:

Attunity CloudBeam for Amazon Redshift – BYOL
