DataWorks Summit 2017 Take Aways – Making Data Work at Verizon and in Hive

At this year’s DataWorks Summit/Hadoop Summit in San Jose, the Attunity team met with industry experts and end users to share information on how open source technologies help leverage data to drive predictive analytics, distributed deep-learning, and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Itamar Ankorion, Chief Marketing Officer at Attunity and Arvind Rajagopalan, Global Technology Services, Verizon joined Lisa Martin & George Gilbert on theCUBE to talk about how Verizon remedied a multi-tier, labor-intensive process by using Attunity Replicate to ingest data from disparate sources into a data lake to create financial reports and business insights.

At the Attunity booth, we had many conversations about Attunity Compose for Hive, a new product that we launched at the DataWorks Summit. Attunity Compose for Hive automates the creation, loading and transformation of enterprise data into Hadoop Hive structures. The software fully automates the pipeline of business intelligence (BI) ready data into Hive, so that you can automatically create both Operational Data Stores (ODS) and Historical Data Stores (HDS). And it leverages the latest innovations in Hadoop such as the new ACID Merge SQL capabilities, available today in Apache Hive (part of the Hortonworks 2.6 distribution), to automatically process data insertions, updates and deletions.
