Attunity converted from BLOB to Long Raw

Hello,

We have a file that has a BLOB from Oracle 9.
When we do a describe in NavSQL>, we get the column as unspecified.
But througt hsodbc, we do another describe, and we get "Long Raw" not "BLOB".

How come it does not show as BLOB? Please advise. Thank you.

Since you are talking about RMS, there is no real blob support there. You have a big byte array in the RMS buffer (that's the Unspecified data type). From the point of view of Oracle, this is not a blob (which is stored outside of the record) but a column that is part of the record, hence LONG RAW. Anyway, what way it is exposed, it does not have the real ORACLE type semantics since it comes from a gateway.

Practically, you should be able to use the same API (though you will have to read sequentially).

Does Attunity translates "BLOB" to "Long Raw" and "CLOB" to something else when Oracle requested the information and does the translation internally?

My point was that RMS (with or without AIS) does not support BLOBs (there is no such thing).

As to what happens in a specific case, you will have to provide more details.
What metadata you were using with Oracle 9 and how. What and how you use Oracle now and with what metadata.
